3 Tips for Maintaining Your Car During Hot Summer Heat

by | Aug 4, 2011 | Maintenance

Regular maintenance and repair of your car is necessary, especially in the summer heat. We’ve put together some tips to help you make sure your car is maintained this summer.

1) Have a Good Battery – Often, the most expensive battery isn’t always the best one, especially in a climate like Phoenix. Usually, the all-weather batteries are more expensive and made for colder climates, so try and find a mid-priced battery instead.

2) Maintain Tire Pressure – Howard Fleischman, owner of NARPRO recommended shop Community Tire Pros and Auto Repair, says “the only natural enemy your tire has is the heat. So the most important thing you can do is keep the proper tire pressure.” Howard suggests you check the tire pressure weekly and keep it at what the automobile manufacturer requires (you can find that information on the inside of the driver’s door), not what it says on the side of the tire.

3) Check A/C Flow – Just like humans in extreme heat, your car needs to sweat in order to remain “healthy”. Matt Allen, owner of NARPRO recommended shop Virginia Auto Service, suggests you make sure your cabin air filter doesn’t have any restrictions and has a good flow out the vents. Matt also says if there is some dripping underneath the car when its humid outside, that’s ok; having a little puddle of water under your car means your condensation tube is unrestricted and water is getting out.
