The holiday season is a time for giving, and for giving back. There are many reasons and ways to give and give back. You might give because it makes you feel good, or maybe because you feel it is your calling to help those in need. Whatever the reason, giving back during the holiday season is always a great way to practice compassion, as well as to show support to those in need within your community.
At NARPRO, we like to make sure we are helping and supporting our local communities, as well as the brave Americans fighting overseas. That’s why this year, just like last year, many NARPRO shops are participating in a Donation Drive with a great non-profit organization, Packages From Home.
Packages From Home is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that sends care and comfort packages to deployed U.S. military service members stationed in active duty locations around the world. Established in 2004, Packages From Home’s goal is to send up to 1,000 care packages to troops every month.
Beginning Friday, November 16th, many NARPRO shops will be accepting donations form customers on behalf of Packages From Home. As a “thank you” for donating, shops will be offering customers some variation of a discount, usually 10% off of labor on their next service. Customers who drop off donations and are not already a NARPRO VIP member can sign up for a VIP card when they’re at the shop. In return for signing up for the VIP program and donating an item, they will receive a coupon good for a free standard, 5-quart oil change with any service (up to $35 value.)
Some popular items that the brave men and women overseas are requesting are Boxer shorts (sizes medium, large, extra-large), toothbrushes and toothpaste, white tee shirts (sizes medium, large, extra-large), toilet paper, shaving cream, flavored drink mix singles (such as Crystal Light or Kool-Aid), plastic squeezable jelly, peanut butter in plastic containers (16-18 oz.), canned soup, chili, ravioli, Spaghetti-O’s, stew, boxes of Saltine crackers (in sleeves), canned fruit (15-18 oz.), and coffee packs or coffee singles (hotel-style or one-pot size).
